Will a rewrapable or disposable brush work best for you?
When your process demands the most effective brushing, United Rotary Brush rewrapable brushes provide the solution. Our brushes are wound directly on
your shaft and are dynamically balanced to ensure smooth, uniform brushing for the most critical surfaces. After the brush life is consumed simply
return the worn brush shaft to our facility to be rewrapped.
In some cases, a disposable brush provides a quicker, more convenient replacement solution. These brushes are designed to be disposed of once the
filament is worn out. Benefits of disposable brushes are:
- Quicker change out and replacement.
- No need to send shafts back to rewraping.
- Easy to store and maintain spares.
Brush strips and coils are available in a wide range of sizes and configurations. They offer a low cost alternative for light duty applications.
Materials of Brush Construction - Brush Filament
Due to the chemical composition of the different filament materials, some filament varieties are better suited for certain applications than others.
In addition, filament specifications – diameter, trim length, and grit size – can be specified to meet the needs of your application.
Following is a brief overview of some of the primary brush filament options:
Nylon is a very common filament choice because of its range of use. It can be formulated to provide heat, chemical and abrasion resistance, and features
excellent flex life, bend recovery, and "Flick Action."
Abrasive Nylon is required for aggressive cleaning or demanding processing applications. The nylon is impregnated with Aluminum Oxide or Silicone
Carbide grit. Like sand paper, the grit size can be adjusted to meet the application requirements.
Polypropylene is a common economical synthetic filament that is formulated to address a wide range of brushing applications. Polypropylene is
particularly applicable for high moisture conditions where consistent bristle stiffness is required and also offers resistance to many acids and solvents.
Polyester is a synthetic filament used often on trommel screen and harvesting brushes. It offers a consistant stiffness in wet applications and
Natural filaments, such as Tampico or other plant fiber, are less abrasive than synthetic materials and often appropriate for wet cleaning conditions.
Wire is a common filament choice, especially in situations in which a "cutting action" is required. Wire can be drawn from various metals – including
stainless steel, carbon steel and brass – depending upon the requirements of the application.
